i cant seem to find lockhead front cylinders for my 1953 saloon the ones on the car are corroded badly ,and i dont want to use pattern ones .so, the question is can i discard the back-plate and use a 7 inch back plate from 1956 onward
this would allow me hopefully to fit the latest cylinders and still retain the original 7 inch drums and keep the car as near as original

Re: upgrading series 11 front brakes
If you have the front drums with integral bearings, Series MM/early S11, then the back plate and cylinder assembly can be swapped for the 7 in 948 back plate and still retain the original hubs. If you want the early cylinders try MMOC Club Spares
