That's very interesting Phil. I have an almost identical gold watch given as a 50 year service gift to my grandfather by Stanton Ironworks. Mine doesn't work. Local jeweller offered scrap value for the gold,saying Smiths watches can't be fixed economically. I'll just keep it and find a proper watch fixer.

I think that BMC must have bought a job lot as there is an identical watch on 'e' bay but for 25 years service to Austin cars
