Ford Ka Seats?

Post by leeandoona »

I'm midway through a restoration of a 58 2 Door Minor. The interior is shot to pieces and totally beyond saving my opinion. I've scoured the web for a replacement like for like match (Dark Red with white piping trim) and aside from the £1500 at Charles Ware for a new interior kit (not an option), I'm left with a later model set in the brighter Poppy red which looks good but isn't original to the style or original colour. I was discussing this with a few people and I was told that Ford Ka Seats front and rear are almost a perfect fit. This got me thinking about using some leather seats from a Ka Sport or Luxury.

Has anyone done this? What's the general opinion on using these seats in a Minor? Is it sacrilege or is it a cheap alternative that could look really good? f you have done this, was it really just a plug and play or did it need lots of mods?

Sorry if this isn't in quite the right place MOD?! If so please feel free to move/remove.

I see it does require a little fettling then to make it work. That guy from the other forum didn't fit the rear seats however and I'm considering fitting the set of seats. My wife thinks it will be criminal to fit 'modern' seats to the Minor so I have already divided opinion within the household! I'm really not sure as yet!

Thanks for the link, very interesting.

From the same site, scroll down for the Ka seats including the rear.

Your 58 2dr with a red interior isn't 518UXH is it ?? My old car.
The car is SORN every year in July but seems to have vanished off the face of the earth, must be hiding in someones garage, last seen in Leeds. Not recognised by the MMOC, not on any facebook forums and the DVLA refuse to forward my letters to the current keeper.

Nope Sorry! Not your old one. I rescued this one from a front garden where it has sat for 15 years rotting peacefully away. The last owner reported to me that a tramp had taken up residence in it...which was obviously nice company for the rats that were also living in it...they left it with the gearbox cover off so you can imagine what that looked like inside after 15 years being open to the elements from beneath. Hence the seats question. Such a shame because they must have been lovely before they were eaten and nested in. :o
