FRONT SCREEN AGAIN

Post by lencot76 »

Hello and a happy New Year to everyone. Thanks to the very kind help from Graham Ryder, and his son Chris ( MMOC ).The screen is finally in the car, however if it wasn`t for the fact that Graham and Chris spent most of the day struggling to do it,the glass would still be lying on the bench, I think even the two of them, with their combined experience found it hard going. The chrome strip is still to be fitted, but I think after 5 hours work, they both felt like a restThis is a true case of the unselfish help, one can find in a classic car club.I can only repeat yet again ,thank you Graham and Chris

The chrome filler is half way in,but even that is causing grief. Are these filler tools any good,if so which one is the best .Graham and his son Chris have kindly offered to return ,to complete the fitting of the filler. However I have caught a dreadfull cold,so I will wait until I feel as though I won`t give it away, before I ask them to return Len

Again - you need everything nice and warm and flexible... Maybe working round with a hair-dryer just in front of the strip insert point would help.

Ive a homemade one, made from a file handle and a bit of welding rod shaped round the plastic edge, this has put in loads of these, including last Saturday when I took out the chrome to re seal the screen which started leaking in this crazy rain.[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

It will be tight on the corners, dont use too hot water as this can damage the chrome plastic finish, I had one were a friend boiled the kettle and put it in a basin only for the chrome to sort of wrinkle up and peel off. Some washing up liquid or other lube will also make it easier. :o
