Hi all

We needed a mode of transport to chuck our two black labrador retrievers in, our two gorgeous Welsh boyos' Dylan and Dewi. Whilst buying this year's Christmas tree down our local nursery we came across this Landy for sale. Thought it just what we needed and to cut a long story short we bought it! Good job it was there really as we had no other means of bringing back the tree!

Anyway I haven't seen my husband since! If he hasn't got his head buried in the engine bay it's buried in the manual!! Perfect Christmas present for any husband and any wife!!

Does anyone else own a Landy? and if so what do you have and could you be without it?

i have a series 2a 1968. i use mine all the time.
its fitted with a 200tdi and range rover diffs.
and overdrive.

Thanks for that link to the Land Rover discussion, there are some useful tips on there. Its great to know there are so many minor lovers that also love Landies.

This is our first one but both of us have always wanted one. They are just great fun to drive, are iconic British vehicles and are so useful, we take our dogs out to many parts of the country in ours. We are going to have the wheels re-sprayed in Limestone which is the correct colour for our model as they are pitted with rust and also have it re-sprayed in Marine Blue the which it is now but is sun-bleached and faded.

My husband wants to call it 'Monty' after Field Marshall Montgomery but I would like 'Winston' after Winston Churchill.

Does anyone have any better suggestions? or just cast a vote for either of the names above I will only back down if I get outvoted!!

sun bleached and faded is the look for a working landy. but its yours so enjoy.

as with most old land rovers they get called many things.......
most of which i can't say on here

Churchill was presented with an early Landy, I believe. I think that I read somewhere that it's been restored recently.

Hi all thank you so much for your input.

Winston has won the day especially after what SteveClem said.

We are considering spraying Winston ourselves in the original Marine Blue. We are looking at paint sprayers' but they are quite expensive, has anyone undertaken a DIY spray job? or should we just leave it to the professionals? We have successfully sprayed the wheels but this was with aerosol cans and they look great.

As requested here are a couple of photos of my Ser3 Lightweight re-build.
Still not finished but all the hard work has been done.
Price is negotiable but I do need to try and re-coup some of the money already spent.

Fitted with NEW galvanised chassis, Fairy overdrive, 5000lb direct pull winch on the front, free-wheeling hubs on front, Weber carb & hard top.
NOS vent panel (rarer than rocking horse droppings) and NOS driver's passenger's door bottoms to be included if the offered price is right.
Currently on SORN.
