Purchased this little saloon about a year ago, I've been learning in it since March of this year. The road tax and MoT ran out last month so I've been refurbishing another two door to use as my daily driver. Once that's done proper work will start on this car.
It's been partly stripped but will need to be fully stripped and rolling over for some serious welding.
Should be a nice little car when it's finished.

Thanks! As I say this is stuff that's been done a few weeks back. In terms of rust it's more a case of filler and rot... Pretty much all areas of the underside will need work. The inner/outer sills are shot as are both of the rear inner wings. Front spring hangers looking iffy too, not much left of the n/s boxing plate. The usual culprits...[frame][/frame]

Thanks David, although dad will be 'present' I'm aiming to do most of the labour myself. We had a bit of a scare when we cut out the back part of the n/s outer sill. It was connected to the rear quarter by a line of filler The rear box section on that side had rotted straight through too.[frame][/frame]

Well we've got the space tools and parts, so what excuse do we have!
Just sorting mechanics out on another, we repaired a part of the boot surround and put in a new rear apron in. I'll soon have a car to use whilst this one is worked on.
Thought you might spot LMM David! I'll see what I can do for photos...

Original USHM 2 thermosyphon engine, no water pump on these. No evidence of the dynamo mounted Smiths water pump, no holes in the dash either. The hole behind the battery was for the roto-dip pole that went through the car, this is SMM 3048 so pretty early. They probably didn't have the equipment yet so just dipped different sections(?) The fuses are encorporated into the voltage regulator.

I've been pondering over that question for nearly two years now!
I think we should absolutely restore the underside and all the mechanics. Not sure about the wiring loom yet, most of it is still intact. Repaint the bumpers and wheels too.
The interior is nearly complete but has a mixture of piping colours.
What is a terrible shame is that it's lost its original wings! If we had them in the same aged condition as the doors etc it would be perfect! They need some serious work and we did manage to get another wing but it's not platinum grey...
Still need to find loads of rare early parts too.
I'd love to have it on the road for 2018, 70th anniversary!
