Hi,
Has anyone managed to successfully fit the new style door seals? I just fitted them to my car and now the doors won't close, no matter how hard I slam them. Th old seals on my car are just the bit that clips round the frame, there's no rubber in them to actually make much of a seal. Is there any way to make the new seals fit or am I just stuck with a draughty car? I'd rather not have a car where the doors had to be slammed hard either.
I had the same problem with new door seals on my A30 but regular use and rubbing with Vaseline eventually sorted it.It can feel a bit brutal slamming the doors shut though.
I was hoping the door seal problems would be sorted by now. Are some sills better then others? Maybe the James K could get the supplier to swap them for some that do fit as they're not really fit for purpose. Il be looking to buy some soon aswell.
Steve, the problem on mine is that I can't get them to shut at all, even slamming them doesn't work. Roy, how easy/ foolproof is doing the hinges? I'd like to try it but I haven't got much time for error. I'm pretty busy and I've got to drive the car to Gatwick on Wednesday so the last thing I want is a door half hanging off!
It is annoying that no-one seems to sell a door seal set that just clips in and fits.
Very similar profile to what is fitted to my car but they look like they have been squashed down with age. The doors close perfectly but I wonder if the door flange has been eased back a bit when they were fitted as it looks to be bent inwards slightly. Does anyone have a pic that might confirm this.[frame][/frame]
The problem with older cars is that many things have to be fettled to fit.
It cannot and should not be assumed that everything will fit perfectly especially door seals to an at least 40 year old plus car.
Ease the flanges to enable the seals to be fitted without ending up having to slam the door.
The flanges can always be eased back again when the seals have settled down.

I 'adjusted' the flange that the seal fits on (bent it inwards) as I wanted the door to be flush with the rear panel and not standing proud.
Can't remember where I got them from but my second set from a different supplier were far softer and better for it (still had to adjust the flange though)
Couldn't get the door to shut on the old Landy last week. Eventually realised that the seatbelt was fouling the mechanism. Not used to seatbelts but still felt a bit thick!
