How fasten the seat belts?

Post by Minor-Bramsche »

Hi There!

I would like to install seat belts in my old lady.

But I have the problem that the original attachment point in the B-pillar is much too deep. My Minor still has the nice trafficator and I am very large (almost 2 meters), therefore the belt passes under my arm and the middle of my chest. Could I put a hole above the tafficator, reinforce with a washer and fix it there?

Has anyone done this before? Perhaps It would be helpful to see photos of it!

I have seen this done, with the bolt passing right through the pillar, head on the outside. However, I do not recommend this as the pillar is not designed to take the loads that could be inflicted in the event of an accident. It could be argued that some restraint is better than no restraint at all, but the loads could be very high.
