Steering wheel

Post by Minor-Bramsche »

Hi :D

Does anyone of you know whether the steering wheel from the classic Mini will fit to the steering column by the Minors?
I found a verry nice steering wheel and I think that will be nice at the Minor  It´s so nice ...

Thanks for your answers

Regards from germany

Yes -same splines. But you will need to arrange a separate horn button.

The Mini steering wheel will not fit the Series MM or Series II with the flat steering wheel as these are secured with a Woodruff Key, not a spline

Fitting a Moto lita wood rimmed steering wheel with the Mini steering wheel boss was the first modification to my Minor after bending the original whist participating in a car club driving test just a couple of days after purchasing the car.
Here is a picture(s) of the original steering wheel in the process of being bent :D
I used a Mini multifunction indicator/dip/main/horn switch instead of using the horn centre push.
The wood rimmed steering wheel sets off the Minor very well.[frame]Image[/frame]

Reading this brings back memories of when my S was stolen, it had a wood rim wheel that I made during my apprenticeship it had druralium spokes mahogany rim and steel boss with the aluminium splined centre let into it, I still get upset/angry, when I think of the theft. I got the car back but minus engine and all the contents, all these years later I still keep the list of missing items.

Just edited my post as I used the word Bastards.
