Battery and charger

Post by poplars »

Need a new battery for the traveller. Could pick up a Halfords HB038 - but does anyone know of any alternatives that can be delivered that they would recommend?

Also anyone recently bought a decent battery charger. I have a trickle charger which is OK, but wondered if anyone had bought a heavy duty charger with the quick charge option that is available on some of those? :) :)

be wary of Halfords batteries
I had one and it only lasted one winter
they did give me another in exchange but no warrenty on the replacement
I bought a better one from autoparts
you may have one near to you

I know that feeling.......having to replace it as the Halfords one has run out.. not too impressed as the charger only gets it to half charge. Cant find receipt so doubt I can get any sort of refund.... hence wondering if anyone had used a reliable mail-order place. If not will pop into a well thought of local auto parts place who can recommend me one of theirs they stock.

If money is no object get an odyssey
Google them
I have them on the bikes,
chargers are a subject all their own. just don't buy a cheap one and you will be fine.

Search ebay for a LUCAS battery - probably a vendor near you. And with a new battery - why would you need a charger? You sure the problem is not with your charging system - rather than the battery?

I could well be wrong but I suspect that the whole battery buying thing may be pot luck. My trav has a v-tec battery , still OK after 6 yrs. Saloon battery looks identical but struggling a bit after 3 years. Ok they are used a little bit differently but not a lot.
The A30 still running and starting fine on a 12 yr old halford thing! Previous posts have shown how many different opinions there are.
