1st timer
Hi all,
I just wanted to say hello, we have just purchased our first Minor 1000. I or should i say, we will most probably be asking alot of questions over the next few months as this will be the first car we will have restored.
Many thanks in advance

Brilliant! Looks like a good solid start, keep us all posted

My 1956 Series 11 Traveller! Bought when I was 17 (1985)....sold 6 years (1991) later......bought back 9 years after that! (2000) With 6 different owners in the middle, what a lucky boy I am!
Re: 1st timer
Hi all been a while since last on here had a very busy year with my little boy.
But progress has been made on my little car mainly stripping away back to a rolling shell.
Basically after some advice on how far to go with replacing parts and if it's viable. It's not about the money or time as I will be doing most of the work myself, more of a case of if its possible.
Looks like I'm going to have to replace pretty much the whole underneath as it will need new crossmember new sills floor pan inner wings chassis legs the lot basically,
Cheers

Re: 1st timer
If you have the time there is no reason why you shouldn't replace or repair all the items you have listed. Repair sections are available for all although you will need to decide which parts to repair and which to replace, assuming you do your own welding. As you have it stripped to a bare shell it will be a lot nicer to work on if you turn it on its side, crawling underneath and welding upwards can be very unpleasant!

Thank you for the response. Upside down welding is not fun!ianmack wrote:If you have the time there is no reason why you shouldn't replace or repair all the items you have listed. This might work a picture of what was under the cover plate.

Re: 1st timer
a lot of minors are like that once the cover plates are taken off
Re: 1st timer
To be honest I wasn't surprised at what I found. It's going to be a full nut and bolt restoration, the strip down is complete. Now to brush up on my welding and start the renewal of rusty bits!aupickup wrote:a lot of minors are like that once the cover plates are taken off
