Brake shoes

Post by Leyland »

Hi everyone
I am doing all the brakes at present. I will be fitting new shoes all round.

I have various sets of brake pads in stock. Some many years old.
Could you please advise if it is better to use riveted brake or glued.

I guess most of my riveted ones will contain asbestos as they are older stock.
Would I be better getting a complete new set form one of our suppliers?

Any advice welcome.

Brake pads ? So discs are fitted? ? If good old drum brakes - then frankly it's hardly worthwhile messing about with old/used shoes - just buy a new set from a reputable maker. But be aware - there are some 'rubbish' shoes out there..... So look for Mintex / Ferodo or similar......You may have to pay a little bit more - but well worth the extra.

I would wrap them in plastic and dump them in your bin! You don't actually know they are made of asbestos...
