Boot Lid

Post by PaulJohnson »

Hello Everyone.

when I open my rear boot lid
there is a wonderful sound of traped rust inside the boot lid moving down.

What is the best way of getting it out?.

Can I take the lock/handel off and see if it will come out or it is going to be a new boot lid @ £260-00!!!.

Yes you can remove the handle( fiddley small nuts to get at) but
you would be wise to have a new gasket ready in case you ruin
the old one. The inner boot skin has gaps all round it so you should
be able to manipulate the lid while it is upside down and remove
the debris that way. If not, spray the innards liberally with Waxoyl,
when it sets it will trap all the loose bits. I must admit that,if it
saved £260 I would put up with the sound of a symphony orchestra!!
