engine identity / block colour

Post by trabant »

Right I have a 1954 series 2 registered September 54 the engine is a bit of an eyesore so I'm planning on yanking it out for a make over if memory serves the engine number is APHM 11568 would anyone know how to date / read that engine number ? Secondly the engine is good old sludge green ( mid bronze green ? ) at the moment I've seen posts referring to series 2 engines being light blue?

APHM
A = A Series
P = Pushrod
H= Power Rating (30 BHP)
M = Morris
Other Engines
APJM = 37 BHP

USHM
U = Engine Type
S = Side Valve
H = Power Rating (27 BHP)
M = Morris

Some of the SII engines were light blue (mine included) and some were the usual green used on later cars. Not sure which, or why, but I know that there were 803cc cars with both colours from new.
