Nuisance call blocking
Does anyone have advice on blocking nuisance calls ? We are plagued by calls all day long - many from abroad - some are just 'with held' numbers.
Re: Nuisance call blocking
Thanks - but been on that for ages....it doesn't help. These calls are coming from Spain/Egypt and other far away places - according to the number displayed anyway....
Re: Nuisance call blocking
We've got the same problem, despite TPS, loads of automated PPI calls, usually with an incomplete number displayed. I have opened a case with the Information Commissioner. Given the interest in the problem, it might just make a difference. You can now get phones that will only pass through calls from numbers that you have specified. Unrecognised numbers are asked to state their name and then put on hold until you approve or reject them.

I got a cold call selling those phones just today
Somebody must be making money from all these calls but who on earth would fall for it, praying on the old and bewildered

You need BT call guardian.

Re: Nuisance call blocking
I think all the technology is in the phone itself, just needing caller id to work fully. Have a look on the talktalk forum, there are a couple of posts saying it works.

Re: Nuisance call blocking
Will shortly be moving into our new house and don't intend having a fixed phone. Will have a line for internet but may just use our mobiles which rarely get cold calls. Is there anything similar to prevent nuisance calls to mobiles?

I have a CPR Callblocker works on any system but you need caller id enabled from your phone line supplier

Re: Nuisance call blocking
Roy we are with Talk Talk and alos have call guardian and it has made a huge difference to how many cold calls we receive. It can confuse legitimate callers but they usually get there eventually.
