Door locks, replace, remove, ???

Post by Markdolly »

My 64 saloon has been barn stored for years and driver and boot lid locks no longer work. They are stiff to turn and don't work.
Are they difficult to remove/service/replace? Any tips will be grand.

Hi Mark and welcome to the messageboard! :D

Have you tried oiling the locks to see if they free up? Usually the drivers door is quite worn and doesnt seize up. The boot handle is a different matter though, they are prone to seizing and breaking the tiny pin that moves to lock them.

The locks are available new but replacement isnt handy. The door top and window has to come off to get the handle out, once its out its not too difficult to do. You can even buy a matching set!

The boot handles can be taken apart too but are fairly cheap to replace so I would just buy a new one.

Heres a link to the page for whats available, do note the different types
