Sad looking Million off to a new home

Post by GeordieDave »

This Million was sold at auction today so hopefully we'll see it back on the road soon. Who ever bought it will be kept busy![frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

What was the auction, unusual for a million to be available and not have prior knowledge on the forums ? Do you know what it sold for, purely for interest as to what an unrestored Million (assuming its genuine) is worth, I'm guessing £5000 ?? Given they are selling for £15k + restored.

It was sold by Featonby's in Whitley Bay for £900 plus fees I'm told. It was advertised in the local press and I only found out about it a few days ago from an eagle-eyed relative. A check with the Million Register confirmed that it is a genuine car. My Dad was interested in bidding but it needs full restoration - definitely a job for someone with a workshop or deep pockets. I think the price was fair for the condition.

Regardless of the work to restore someone has come up trumps there.

It doesn't sound as if the auctioneer knew much about publicity does it :-?

Yep £1000 for a complete genuine Million, I'd say it was worth it just so you could say you've got one of the rarest Minors ever built. I've seem similar condition GPO vans on ebay for that money. Got to be better than money in the bank.

The Million sold by Featonbys is chassis 1,000,281 and is now waiting to be restored. 1,000,014 is first. They will join 1,000,058.
The price quoted is correct, £900 + fee. but it will cost more to restore than it is worth, but I am not doing it for the money, its saving part of our motoring heritage.[frame]Image[/frame]
The colour is wrong as it was resprayed purple at some time, but it is a genuine Million.

Good for you - and good luck with it. As you say, the price you paid is insignificant compared with the high cost of restoration - something which should never be underestimated.

Thats quite a collection of millions, would like to see some pics of them. You should start a restoration thread on the progress!

Guessing the buyer is the guy who runs the traveller hearse from Stafford way? Already left instructions for my departure.

The guy in Staffs is Andrew Bywater, Mirabelle Cassics. Standard Traveller and runs the coffin down the passenger side, mine is stretched 42 inches, NOT cut and shut, built properly[frame]Image[/frame][frame]Image[/frame]

My Millions are on the Million Register website. 1,000,058 took a prize at the national rally this year, first proper rally since restoration. 1,000,014 and 1,00,281 are both real project cars, both really bad[frame]Image[/frame]

Looking forward to seeing your Millions at some stage. I'd rather put off a close look at your other project, or indeed Andrew Bywater's, for a few years yet though......
