Door tops

I'm having a problem removing the stainless door tops from my pickup, what am I missing with regard to what would be stopping it coming out? I can't remember doing anything different in the past but obviously I did !!

is it stuck around the handle at all

Yes, stuck around there, I've loosened the handle but I don't think it will it comes out until the frame is out.

I presume you have let the glass go and the winder gear.and the link to the door handle.

No I haven't, I felt sure that wasn't necessary but having second thoughts now. The manual shows the tops partially out, although the description doesn't mention removing things that might be in the way, just the internal handles, door card and various bolts. I've had another look at things and now think the window mechanism will need unbolting, releasing the glass.

Job done, it's going to look a lot better with painted tops fitted.
