Hi,
First post on this forum (many more to come I'm sure!!).
We have a 1968 Morris Minor that has been in the family for the last 10 years but received only absolutely necessary maintenance and been standing unused for most of the 10 years as it's reliability has been questionable.
It was leaking oil from the crank pulley seal so I have sorted that, also given the car an oil, plugs and filter change, added electronic ignition and a new fuel pump and heat shield and it runs ok but it is running rich and lumpy with a loss of power on the slightest hills.
I've tried messing about with the carb but if I'm being honest I am not really too sure what I am doing with it and as that has not worked do not know what to do next - best left to someone that does!!
Can anyone suggest a good Morris Minor garage / mechanic in North Lincolnshire area (we are near Caistor, N.Lincs) that would be able to hopefully get it running nicely and MOT the car??
Any help / advice / contacts would be appreciated........

You don't have a classic and pay someone to maintain it ;)

Sorry, don't know any establishments in your area, but if it's lumpy and lacking power I would urge a compression test before using it any more. It is possible that you have a blown head gasket, and using it like that will cause more damage. If it's not a HG, then at least you will have ruled it out.

Thanks for the advice on the HG, thats why i need someone else to check it out.....
i appreciate the earlier comment about owning a classic and maintaining it myself but i have very little time to spend on getting it fully working and too many other hobbies to make this a priority so it will just end up sitting around unused.
We have local garages but i would rather someone who has an interest in classic cars had a look at it. I will keep searching...

First step would be to check and reset the valve gaps - then a compression test. If you can't DIY it - you will need deep pockets.... Give it a try!

Fresh petrol in the carb bowl and some of that easy start can help as long as the mechanical above and the ignition side of things are good enough.
