Wheel size and tyre size

Post by Theo_NL »

2 of my wheels are not in very good condition. Small swing in axial direction creates vibration when driving 60mph. When fitting new tyres they tried to balance as good as possible, but they are able to correct this.

As far as I know new standard wheels are not available, but for the Van they sell those a bit wider ones. As I read here, this will improve driving also. Do my new tyres (145 x 80 x 14 Bridgestone) fit on these wheels? Or should I also buy new tyres :( ?

Apart from that issue, yes, your tyres will fit OK.

If you are visiting UK I have some good (need clean and so on) standard car 1000 wheels. For a small price.

Thanks for the replies.

I only read about rust. Isn't that just a matter of good paint? Any other problem with these wheels?

Thanks, no trip scheduled for the moment.

I contacted ESM, they do not recommend to use 145x80. What could be the problem? Faster wear?

155 would be ideal but no significant issues with 145.

145 tyres are perfect on a 4.5" wheel - but so are the 155 tyres.
