Wheel colour?
Hi, just asking when wheel colour changed from body colour to white, my car is a 58 model. I have googled this question and have found differing opinions, any advice appreciated
Re: Wheel colour?
According to this they were body colour until 1958.
Scroll down about two thirds of the way for the chart.

Re: Wheel colour?
Thanks for the link, I have seen that one, but other sites say it changed earlier & some say later, so still unsure

Re: Wheel colour?
Yes the wheels in 1958 should be body colour, except for black cars, they had a birch grey grille and wheels until February 1959 when all colours changed to pearl grey. Then in July 1960 it was changed again to Old English White.
Re: Wheel colour?
Thanks for that info, but does that mean I need to paint the grille in body colour too?
Re: Wheel colour?
I am told it is called Clarendon grey
Re: Wheel colour?
Thank you for your guidance, much appreciated
Re: Wheel colour?
i have a 55 black car which had cream wheels on and they looked ok , i repainted a fresh set of wheels in black and the car now looks so much better , it now has a real period look , i would think grey wheels will look good
Re: Wheel colour?
Thanks for your post, I have decided to paint them body colour & live with it for a while & then make a decision.
