Hi guys.
I have a 12G3535 Allegro thermostat housing which I would like to use on my Ital engine, and I would like to use the central threaded tapping to fix a sensor for the fan which I will shortly be getting.
My questions are this: 1) Can anyone tell me what the actual thread in the centre of the housing is? I can't find anything on line.
2) Does anyone know if it is possible to get a sensor/ sensor fixing kit to fix the tapping, and 3) Has anyone actually done it?
Most of the sensors that I have seen on line have some sort of American thread.
Looking forward to your replies.

If I remember correctly, from when I ran one of these fantastic cars the thread has a plastic plug fitted, if you have this plug an engineering firm should be able to identify the thread from it. It might be a bsp thread. If I can find a plug I'll post again, maybe with more info.

Re: Fan sensor etc
If it is of any help - the thread is 14 TPI with an overall dia of 27/32" which could make it 1/2" BSP.

Hi gents.
Les. Yes you are correct, it does have the plastic bolt in the centre, and I will indeed take it to our local fastening and fixtures company. Ta!
Phil. Thank you. I have some 1/2 inch BSP plumbing bits somewhere, so will check on that. If it is BSP, it might be hard to find a sensor to fit I reckon, but will check

Re: Fan sensor etc
Have you looked at the type and fitment of the sensor that comes with the coolant fan kit.
Both the Kenlow kit fitted to my Landrover and the Davis Craig fitted to my Minor have sensors served by wires that go in under the top hose.

https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/s/co ... controller
It may be easier and more cost effective to purchase a ready made adapter/controller see above.
Postscript:
A 15mm pipe fitting screws in just right and with reducers could be reduced down to size required[frame]

Re: Fan sensor etc
Therefore the outlet is horizontal but that is no matter as hoses can be adapted.
The outlet is only 1" OD so you may need a stepped hose.
