external sun visors

Heya guys
I know their not to everyone's taste but was hoping to get some more infomation about them as it seems Norma is wanting me to fit one to her

So I know the fiberglass ones flap around at speed but how badly and how fast before thing starts happening, also how noticeable is it?

Is there any other cars that I could get a sunvisor from that would fit the moggy?

What is the best place to get one from? Are certain places sun visors more stable than others. Would like a metal one but not up to spending hundreds.

Also if anyone has one for sale I'd be interested

Yeah I've seen all of them already been tempted by the one from OZ but not sure how postage would be and really like the second hand one but already messeged and he says he is not posting

It's about 250 to 300 miles away haha so sadly that's out of the question

I've found another spares place that does perspex ones but there £200 before postage

I've always liked them but felt they were a bit impractical with the common ones seen on Moggys but I've given up being practical.... gets you no where

You are only allowed to fit an air brake (aka sun visor) once you have cluttered up the front of the car with numerous badge bars and useless 'fog' and 'spot' lights....

Well I have been debating for a long time weather badge bar or spot lights ;) I have an AA badge though does that count ;)

Giggling aside, I think anyone with headlight peaks involved in an accident with a pedestrian would feel badly at the very least as the victim bled to death following any minor collision and could well face criminal prosecution afterwards for fitting the "knives" to the front if their car that did the damage,

Mine went in the bin, I wouldn't even give them away because of the potential to do the above

But in all honesty they'd hit the bumper or over rider first and there's also many many cars that could cause so much more damage than just two bits of blunt mental on the front that can colapse when just leaning on them.

You could say the same about badge bars with the badges on it with sharp edges that could catch someone, the door and wing mirrors could hurt someone especially if the wing mirror breaks off and is just left with the stem


There are many things that could hurt pedestrians but you can't cover every car in the world in foam to stop anything happening

The headlamp peaks are often razor sharp - someone on here had serious hand injuries just brushing against one ! If I was an MOT tester I would fail the car for 'sharp edges'. Horrible things that cheapen the car and serve no useful purpose.

Really they must have put razer blades on it. Mine has deburred themselves during driving so now there pretty blunt
Honestly I feel they give the front end a bit more character, from side on the front just seems like it's missing something and the peaks were then fitted and that tiny bit more character from the peaks completed it every person that has stopped me to have a chat all pointed out the peaks as they don't remember them being fitted back in the day but they all wish they were and loved them

Mine have a rolled edge making them as blunt as every other exposed edge on the car.
Can't say that I've ever come across a "Razor Sharp" headlamp peak - it would be illegal to retail them for a start!

Like them or loathe them, a great many owners, myself included, take pleasure in personalising their vehicle to their own taste.
Our car is adorned with headlamp peaks, auxiliary lamps, klaxon horn, badge bar with badges and a host of other goodies "Not Original" to the manufacture and we have always had a very positive response at shows, the most common comment being....
"What a lovely fun car". If nothing else it always makes people smile and that can't be a bad thing surely?

Exactly boomlander I have been thinking about a secondary horn aswell on a separate switch so I can still use the original but just can't decide what horn to go for but got other things I'm after first ;) like a sunvisor for example......

Good luck with the search - I am afraid decent used metal sun visors for Minors are few and far between especially for split screen models like mine.
I have just bought an original vintage Lucas King Of The Road motor Klaxon to replace the modern reproduction in the car and can't wait to repaint it and raise a few laughs along the sea front!
