at work theres some EP90 in a big drum, they use it in the plant,excavators ect...., theres only one kind i suppose, stupid question i know

, if so its mine for the taking

Maybe if it's branded oil, but for the sake of less than a litre is it worth it?

Well if it's free, yes! Seriously though I would say ep 90 is ep 90, but being a fussy type I would do a bit more checking.

Cost of a new bottle of EP90 diff oil - £5?
Cost of a reconditioned diff + fitting - £200?

You'll probably be OK but I wouldn't risk it.....

i think its the pikey in me, the £10 it would save to do both cars would buy a tin of red oxide, bearing in mind ive spent hundreds in the last few months, the wifes face is strecting along with the cost,cheers boys p.s. ill check with the fitter wen i see him

Steve if you check its spec the API ratings that sort of thing and compare it to whats available elsewhere you should then have a reasonable comparrison.

Does EP90 have an API number like engine oil??

As the diff doesn't have to deal with combustion products, and the oil is just there for the gears slosh around in??? I'll check the bottle I have.

Just found out that EP90 does have an API rating but the only ones I can find are Comma rated at GL5 and Castrol at GL4, hope this helps.
