Spent the last couple of days swapping the gearbox and fitting a 3.7 diff :) I changed the gearbox not long after I got Ted because I mistakenly thought it was the source of a nasty whine, turned out it was the diff  So I changed that for another 4.2 unit, unfortunately the replacement box was prone to jumping out of second and whined a bit. Since I did the engine improvements I realised I was revving poor Ted more than I should  so I bought the diff John Newton was selling and picked it up a few weeks ago, but because of a dodgy knee and a weekend away I've only just got round to fitting it.

A diff

I've got to say the diff was just about perfect, runs silently and the longer legs are lovely, thanks John :D As a bonus The original gearbox I put back in feels so much better, no whining in neutral and no second gear mishaps. All in all a very satisfying couple of days - time for a beer.

You lucky devil, I have been on the lookout for a 3.7 diff for a while and have not spotted one. You can confirm then that it suits the Minor for longer legged driving. Enjoy.

It certainly does, not as dramatic as I expected but the revs are obviously lower for a given speed. Not sure what it would be like on a standard engine but it suits Ted's very well :) Just waiting for my new speedo now so it matches the final drive.
