can anyone help me find the id of a morris minor? please

hi' everyone im matthew' ive just joined the club as ive bought a 1952/3 according to colin holwell'' morris minor split screen 2 door thats been part restored & abandoned years ago' unfortunately theres no vin or number plates! i have the chassis number 166417 & a small plaque on the top of the passenger bulkhead either 8m 76578 or bm 76578. woulg greatly appreciate any help finding its original reg plus i need loads of spares as its nearly a bare rolling shell, thanks matthew.

I had a look on the MM register just in case your chassis number was included on there with the reg number.
It's a shame, but it is not. 166413 is a 1952, and is the nearest to yours.

Might be a cherished mark victim.

thanks thats some good & bad' does that mean i may need some form of dating certificate from the morris minor club so i could register with an age related plate?

The chassis number is stamped on the engine compartment bulkhead, see photo. The full chassis code is FBA 11/166417 if originally black [frame][/frame].
You can get a production Trace Certificate from BMIHT, Gaydon which will give you the build info for your car.

Unless you can find a photo or documentation with the registration plate you will have to settle for an age related plate
