Ignition coil

Morning.

Can anyone tell me what a good modern subsitute coil would be? I want to get one from a local motor shop, not a Minor specialist, and I doubt they will stock a standard Minor coil. I'd prefer a Lucas rather than a cheap equivalent.
Mine is leaking oil, although it's still working it's only a matter of time before it goes the way of the Dodo.....

Sadly Lucas is now only a brand name and manufacring takes place in some far eastern country..........

Make sure you check the Ohms between the two terminals -should be 3.2/3.4 . Any less is a ballast coil - which you DON'T want... I urge you to find a 'good old coil' rather than a new one.... I doubt even the Bosch are made on Germany these days. And Lucas are made in far away places -goodness knows to what standard....

Got a new one now, will check coil resistance later. Car goes well!

i had my coil start fo fail comming home from mot/uk put the new spare standard coil on that was in the back when i got home car running well again, baught a new accuspark one to keep in the back for another 10 years

I'll be doing the same. Saves a red face & trailer home late at night, esp if you're in France.

Coil resistance is 3 ohms. Good enough for me.

The Bosch ones are good - I've bought 2 in recent years ( for my VW camper and also one of the Minors) and they've both performed well and continue to do so. Unlike many others these days they are totally filled with oil. They are manufactured in Brazil these days, not aged any. AVOID Lucas ones at all costs - they are uterus junk and have left me stranded when under a year old.
