Morris minor trunnions screws on??

Just a quickie. I understand the top and bottom trunnions screw on with a slot in the middle for the pins to slide though, in a cotter pin arrangement. How much should they be screwed on? Surely you could get one more turn on them and still get the pins in, so there must be a spec to follow....

i have always counted the turns as i remove them and replace themi with the same number of turns back.. probably to late for you to hear that now

Where ever the trunnions ends up it needs to be able to swivel enough to cover full lock, if it's screwed on too far it won't be able to accommodate full lock one way. I think it's academic anyway; I'm sure the pin won't go through if screwed too far. You could always try it!

Screw on until gently seated, then unscrew until the channel for the pin is centred in the hole. As above, you need to have full movement either side of centre position.

The top trunnion does not have a pin going through it that interfaces with the swivel trunnion threads. Only the bottom trunnion has a pin that interfaces with the swivel trunnion threads.
The top trunnion can be fully screwed home and then backed off sufficient to enable full lock either way to be obtained.
The bottom trunnion can be screwed home and then backed off to enable the trunnion pin to be inserted. Again the trunnion must be sufficiently backed off to enable full lock either way to be obtained without interfering with the trunnion pin. The swivel bottom trunnion threads are in two parts to enable the trunnion pin to pass between them. The trunnion pin can only be inserted when the gap between the swivel trunnion threads aligns with the trunnion pin hole/bushes.
