dynamo swapping connectors ?

Post by mattyb »

has any one swapped the brush end on a dynamo from a terminal one to a threaded pillar and nut type ? my 1958 moggy has the original threaded and nut type which is dead and whilst I can solder on spade connectors to the loom I'd before not to. I have a spare terminal type dynamo to fit with new brushes - commutator looks excellent on the spare as well - the original is very worn ! but has lasted well as it does look to be the original !

It will be fine if both are side entry brushes.

The screw terminal dynamo is generally a C39, the spade terminal dynamo is a C40. The offsets to the mounting holes are different, also the brushes are different, so no you cannot just swap the end plates as the mounting bolt holes will not line up. Also one terminal is attached to the end plate and one is attached to the dynamo body. The end bushes are replacable.
