Traveller rear floor removal

Has anyone out there made the rear floor over the spare wheel removable, either completely detachable, or hinged upwards, to get better access top the 'boot' space? What are the structural implications?

Good idea in theory, the only thing to watch is that the seat back is attached to the wooden floor. If you cut ans hinge the floor, then you will need to beef up the remaining portion to ensure that the seat back is securely anchored.

Hardly seems worth while - there is very little space around the spare wheel -unless you plan to put it elsewhere.

I was thinking of sectioning the floor just behind the rear seat. It would be useful to gain access for maintenance, and to make the best use of the storage space beneath.

I have not modified the floor, but while I was replacing the wood, I installed a shelf to allow a box of spares/tools to be stored under the floor above the fuel tank.[frame][/frame]
