Horn Problem

Post by MajorL »

I thought my horn was fixed after my last post. However here we go again. All the tests have been done. The horn works. There is power from the purple wire and the purple/black wire up to the horn push wire. I have taken the plastic cover off the indicator switch to expose the brass slip ring and put the steering wheel and horn push back on. When pressing the horn push there is a faint click from the horn. I put a test bulb from the slip ring to earth and the bulb lights up. When the horn push is pressed the light goes out. Dose this mean the horn push is working and earthed? But the horn still does not work. When putting a screw drive across the horn push contact wire to earth there are lots of sparks the horn clicks but nothing else. Its got to be something simple that I'm not spotting. Anyone got any ideas? Andy.

It sounds (excuse the pun :D ) like the horn is faulty, here is a link to how to test and repair wind tone horns.

Hope it helps.

Richard, Many thanks. I'll work have a look at the horn. I'm wondering if I have a weak Battery.I'll check that out too and let you know the results as a matter of interest. Andy
