You are confusing volume and pressure, Customjob. A greater volume of tyre will require a greater volume of air to reach the same pressure. By your theory, we'd be running round with 1 psi in our bicycle tyres! A radial tyre should have a bulge in the sidewall and over inflating the tyre to reduce the bulge is a folly. You are further reducing the contact patch which is already reduced by having an oversize tyre on a 3" rim.
