The problem is similar to before but hasn't happened since then. Traffic was awful and it's 10 hours since I set off. Been sitting in a lot of traffic.

Oh dear - I feel for you... Does your insurance not have recovery cover ? Get them to take you to the event - arriving on a trailer ....

Can you try another rotor arm, if you have one of course. I have found a faulty one produces similar symptoms.

Have you tried posting on Facebook Louise? plenty of young owners already at the event camping. They may be able to help.

Arrived at the rally at 1.30am on Saturday morning, after a 14.5hr journey.

Arrived home safely at 9pm after a 7hr drive back. Traveller still not running right though. Will post up more details tomorrow (and also thank everyone who helped) as I need to get some sleep!

Thanks Claire :)

I'll post up details of the problem in the mechanical section later but need to post up some thanks.

A huge thank you to Mike Perry and Dale Brignall.

Mike Perry had the misfortune to be the first Minor I saw after the problem started - he was parked up in a layby about 20 miles from the rally site. As I approached his car I saw that he was slumped over towards the passenger side and after some frantic knocking on his window it transpired that he was having a nap  Anyway, having woken Mike and his cockerpoo Morris he spent some time under the bonnet and eventually got the traveller started again. Unfortunately it broke down again shortly afterwards and we were joined by Chris Ryder who stopped to help. Both Chris & Mike worked at getting it started again, in the pouring rain, and I eventually made it to Malton. After some very loud backfiring, which drew customers out of a nearby pub, I broke down again and 3 men pushed me into a side street as I was blocking traffic.

Having no luck at fixing it myself, shortly after posting on here I spotted a green Minor and waved frantically at the driver. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be Mike Perry! He was driving round in search of food as the catering at the rally was closed down by the time he arrived there. By that time I had been approached by a drunk bloke who told me that he used to own a Minor van and if I was stuck could stay at his flat for the night, so I was really pleased to see Mike :D Not sure he was so pleased to see me again though! He was really great though, and spent a few hours trying to fix the problem whilst Morris sat and watched. He also insisted on staying with me until the recovery truck arrived at quarter to one on Saturday morning. Apologies to anyone who was woken up on the campsite by our arrival at 1.30hrs. You are a star Mike :P

On Saturday the traveller was running again, after 7hrs trying to figure out what the problem was. At one stage there were 5 people looking under the bonnet, and a big thank you to everyone who stopped to help fix it and/or offer advice - I didn't get all of your names but it was much appreciated. Mike & Dale spent most of the day helping out, and Dale came to the rescue with his electronic dizzy and fuel pump and then followed me home for the first 200 miles to make sure I was OK. A real knight in shining armour :D

Thanks also to Chris Ryder, TRmorrisminor & friends (who spent quite a while assisting), Simona1, Harrymango, ClaireC, Tricky Dickey, Alan Scott and the Tom Roy stand for lending their boosterpack when the battery went flat.

It's going to be a scorcher today so make sure you wear a hat or sunscreen Dale :D I've been trying to 'tone down' the sunburn from Saturday but it's still looking bright red in places.

Wow! What a story Louise!! You did make me chuckle about the drunk man though! so pleased that so many kind souls helped you along the way and that you and your traveller are now back home safely.

I hope your car is better very soon and God bless everyone!

I try to keep a sense of humour over these sorts of things and every National seems to result in some sort of mishap :D

The drunk kept popping back but the worse part was when I thought that something had happened to Mike Perry, as he took a while to wake up. I didn't know what I was going to do stuck in a layby with a broken down traveller, a series MM & trailer, a collapsed Mike and a sleepy cockerpoo :o

Glad you got home OK, you must have snuck off before the prize giving to get home by 21.00. I left after the the prize giving and did not get home to Reading until 23.45. Warwick services on the M40 had run out of ordinary unleaded and I was not going to fill my car with Super at motorway prices, so I used my spare can which meant an extra stop in Oxford,
I could not keep up with an Irish reg. arctic on the motorway, don't the have speed limiters fitted?
Have you fitted those nice shiny headlight peaks yet or the 155 tyres?
