Hi everyone
This is my first time using this forum as I am new to the club. Anyway...
I have seen this plug with a negative a and positive sign on it just to the right of the steering wheel and I have looked everywhere to find out what it is but i cant seem to get any information about it or what it does so if anybody knows what it is if you could let me know that would be great.
I have uploaded some photos as well (for some reason they are 90° anti-clockwise)
These plugs and sockets were an accessory rather than a Morris part. They were Commonly used for parking lights years ago when cars parked on the street had to be lit at night, and also for various other accessories. I remember you could get a 12 volt plug in kettle, but you'd be lucky if it boiled before the battery went flat! If connected correctly they can Also be used for charging the battery.
Hi everyone
I just asked my dad if it could be a parking light and he said it was and that he could remember them. He couldnt think either until I showed him your replies and i think it may have brought back memories.
Really interesting that, I've never seen one before. If it was my car I think I'd retain it... Even if it needs disconnecting. Part of the car's history.
The light was on the car when we bought it.
Unfortunately the plastic lens had become very brittle and was crumbling so I replaced it with a similar modern indicator lens.
I just have to figure a way of colouring the back half of it red like the original - glass paint perhaps?
Or a map reading light (as used by rally navigators) or just a 'wander' light for those annoying night time breakdowns when the coil fails..... You are never going to use a parking light.... Actually - I rather like the Ign cut-out idea! No thief would guess what it is there for !
And if boomlander wants to paint his lens red, Humbrol do a "clear red" - it is number 1321 and it didn't eat my plastic lens unlike some other paints do!

Nice one! Thanks for that - We have a model makers shop in town so they probably stock it.

Nail varnish?
I use the light for a parcel shelf light
