I need to pump the brake pedal to get a response!
I have a Morris Traveler 1970 and I have replaced the brake cylinders, both front and back, replaced the shoes, bled the system, adjusted and...well when I press the pedal the fist movement is longer than the second when it really bites. I am not a mechanic and I have a friend who is helping. The next thing to check is the master cylinder and to replace the seals and washers...is this right? Will this help? Help... Johnnie Briggs

I would just buy a new master cylinder, there only about 50. I replaced the seals in my master cylinder first before replacing the whole thing a few years later.

It sounds like you still have air in the system, I would try another bleed before you change the master cylinder
Too many Minors so little time.....

Thank you for your kind words, I am hoping that I don't have to buy a new master cylinder now as my budget has been spent on the wheel cylinders and welding.
I will try bleeding them again, before I take the master cylinder out and replace the seals.
Best wishes,
Johnnie Briggs

Adjust the brakes up hard ! Did you do the rears correctly? Slacken off the cables - then adjust up the shoes , and only then tighten the cables to put the lever where you like it. It's very unlikely you need a new master.....

How are you bleeding the brakes? How much fluid have you put through the system?
I find the method that works for me is the two person method with a jam jar and tube, opening the bleed screw while your assistant presses the brake pedal then tighten it when the pedal hits the floor.
As Roy says there is still air in the system.
