Temperature gauge

Post by moggiethouable »

Just a thought for anyone struggling with a retro-fitted temp gauge.
I finally got my backside in gear and wired it up to the little voltage reg behind the speedo and it works just fine, after I swapped the 2 leads over at the back of the gauge, one from the sender and the one from the back of the speedo, prior to that it was doing all kinds of wonderful things.
I wonder if the wire swap was necessary because the car is still positive earth?

Not is it was a 'hot wire' gauge...ie the needle moves slowly? But a +ve earth car would not have a voltage regulator on the back of the speedo..... :o

Roy, Not sure what you mean here? All Minors were +ve earth, including the very late ones with the Lucas 11AC alternator fitted as original equipment.
