Side window dimension of Morris traveller
Hi
New to this site.
Someday I hope to purchase a Morris traveller. Not yet though.
I would like some advice in the meantime from you good folk.!
When I do buy one, I am considering blocking out the side windows with some board, for a sign..Is this possible?
Would I have to remove the glass.I don`t want to get rid of the glass, just board it up.
Can anyone tell me the size of the board I would need?
Also, the lower section panel size of the back doors please..I am thinking the same here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jimmy

Re: Side window dimension of Morris traveller
Sorry can't oblige with the dimensions of the side windows at present, but just a suggestion. Rather than board up the side window glass which may lead to drainage problems - (there are drain holes in the waist rail to drain water from glass which could get blocked and rot the wood) why not get a vinyl sign made to the inside window dimensions which could be stuck to the inside of the glass. This could then be removed easily without damaging the wooden structure of the car.
Members of our Police Register use these signs which of course have to removed after attending a rally.

Sensible I think. Don't spend money on changing a trav to a van. Use the peel off vinyl or find an original van.

Re: Side window dimension of Morris traveller
all measurements are width x height and are in cm
rear door panels are 49 x 42
side windows are 127 /137 ( top / base ) x 33
both side windows are 70 wide at the base ( they overlap )

On a VERY hot day, you might wish you'd retained the sliding windows though! I've always found the opening windows to be a great bonus

The OP was asking for dimensions so he could board up the glass to use the area for advertising.

Re: Side window dimension of Morris traveller
AAHHH...thank you for all your suggestions and advice.
Being a traditional signwriter, the idea is to promote my services in a nostalgic way.
So plastic signs,as you can guess, I am not a FAN.
I do reverse gold leaf gilding on windows,so I guess I could write straight onto the glass.
However, when I look at pictures, they seem to have two pieces of glass ?..
My idea is to have a vintage canal boat style to the sign, that would span the whole area. ( no breaks..ie,2 glass panes.)
Maybe, reverse gild a complete piece of new glass that fits the whole length ?
Can I go ahead and buy the board/glass with the dimensions given and paint and gild .?
Are all Morris travellers the exact measurements.?
Thanks for all your help.

Charlie..Thanks for the dimensions..!
Re: Side window dimension of Morris traveller
The traveller in this thread has gilded windows, with the original side glass replaced by one piece so it's possible to do: http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f= ... lit=gilded
