Hey guys started the Morris up to put in the garage and it sounded like she was running on one cylinder or two as when I put her in gear she stalled then she wouldn't start at all, I went under the bonnet and seen that the yellow wire and a brown and green one are off the alternator I think am I right or where do they go I don't know electrics at all so pretty clueless

Can't see how the wires are related to the engine problem. Plug them back on - they are different sizes. Is the battery flat? When was the engine last run?

If you have an alternator, it would well be a conversion, and the old wires are left over form the dynamo - often just left in place after the new alternator harness has been fitted.

As regards one or two cylinders, before you do anything else, check compression on all cylinders - it could be a blown head gasket, in which case do not run it until it is fixed. Another option might be simply condensation in the distributor cap.

Ahh righto, car was last ran this morning when I pulled her out the garage just seems strange how it now won't start,
Could it be plugs??
She has always fired on the turn of the key even when it was sat out side in all weathers for over a year petrol and free the fuel pump off and away she went,

it might have fouled up the plugs with stop and starting on choke , give them a good clean and leave them out for a while to let the cylinders dry out , if it runs ok then give it a good warm up

So the car had been sitting outside all day before you started her to put her back in the garage? In the heat. Could be fuel vapourisation. In which case leave everything to cool down, and then try starting her again after a few hours. Modern fuel evaporates much quicker than the fuel these engines were designed to take. I've had this problem after mine has been sitting out in the heat at a rally all day.

Will check plugs also, wasn't that hot really mate just strange really if only my dad was here he would have had it running in minutes lol

If you are just repeatedly starting and stopping the engine - indeed it could be fouled up plugs.

Will order some plugs for her and check that

Take the plugs out, clean and dry them and put them back.

Why does everyone always want to 'order' parts? Is there a 'thrill' to ordering parts from a Minor specialist ?? Just nip down to your local garage/autoshop... But indeed in this case - just clean them....
