roller painting

Hi, I have another thread asking for painters in Birmingham but I was wondering how possible is it to roller paint my Morris?

I've heard alot of roller painting bodywork, but am a bit skeptical.

Which paint should I be using?
Is it easier than spraying myself?

Is it worth a go myself if I'm just looking for an 8/10 paint job to get me through a few months of good weather before I start the real work in winter?

I've know a few people roller their vehicles with Rustoleum with good results. It's a synthetic enamel so if you decide on a re-spray in the future with any other paint then it's a hell of a job getting it all off again

Thanks, the 'hell of a job' bit worries me.

Im curious if Halford's mixing service paint is any good? I know they can provide spray or tin, but rolled on, not sure if it will have the same effect

If you want anything else but a standard colour them it's about £15 for an aerosol Water based paint too. Best going to a proper paint suppliers.

Depends on how much you want to cover, are there large areas that need attention or just little bits here and there. For chips and little edge repairs I use an artists brush (not that I'm an artist ) But no matter what you do you will need a good match. There are places that match the paint by scanning it, cant name one (except Homebase who only do household paint) but with a bit of searching I'm sure you'll find one.

I've just done mine in craftmaster coach enamel.First go and it looks good.It could be better with another coat so will do this over the winter.
I used a mini gloss roller and the best synthetic brush.[frame][/frame]

I think this just made up my mind. Looks great!! what sort of prep did you do?

Also, is all the craftmaster paints suitable for rolling?

It's possible to achieve an amazing finish, but it's a LOT of prep and sanding - to get a good look it's 99% prep 1% paint.

On the up sides, it's cheap and easy to repair and scrapes or dents you get. I intend to roller paint my Charlie at some point in the near future!
