Mirrors

Post by Cornishman »

Will be fitting new wings next week. The question I have is what mirrors do I fit? Presently they are on the wings, but I really do want to re-fit them. Are quarter light mirrors the answer, and if so how to fit them?
My moggy is a 1961 original convertible. Manny thanks Andy

I have an original convertible and I have round mirrors on the wings and "clip on" door mirrors on the window frames which I find adequate although I know from past postings that some people find them useless. :D

Make sure they are the convex ones flat ones are useless. Mirrors help but looking over your shoulder is important.

Here's a picture of a door mirror fitted to the stainless steel triangle.

I've recently bought and fitted a pair of the mirrors pictured to our Minor (replacing a single clip-on mirror which fell off). The difference is amazing with visibility is greatly improved. Like you, I didn't want to drill holes in the wings and this is a great compromise. I bought them from Bull Motif Spares and they weren't expensive - a pair costing vastly less then a replacement single mirror for my modern car recently

Mirrors on the wings are very useful for avoiding gate posts

Its a personal choice again! Get someone to hold them while you sit in the drivers seat and look. I find that 9inches from the headlight to be a good position for mine and usually in line with the little bump on the headlight rim. Heres my traveller with them in that position.
