Where to buy coach line strips?

Post by Amorrisman »

As the title suggests!
I have seen posts regarding the painting/transfer of coachlines.
Wondered where the best to buy the transfers would be for a two door 1000 model. Either in red or white.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I had mine applied by a local firm who sign write vans etc.
They design and cut via a computer, so you could have it as thick or as thin as you wanted, or duel lines if you wished.
I went for a single thin stripe down he middle of the raised side strip, in a very pale yellow, which looks cream on the car, as per original and it looks great.
They were very professional and it didn't cost a lot, plus I had the piece of mind that if something didn't look right they would rectify it FOC.
Plus, of course, you have a wide choice of colours to choose from. If I wanted it done again I would source a firm local to where I now live. (Or use the same Milton Keynes firm again, if the car was in the area.)
Best wishes,
Mike.

You can get it in common colours from halfords. So white or red should be no problem.

You need 6 metres for a Minor.

It's painted on........if you can't do it free-hand (as per factory) then apply masking tape!

I got mine for £6 from Tom Roy at the national... but it turned out to be cheaper in halfords (who'd have thought it!)

I want to paint mine on. Anyone know what the original red shade was called? Or where I can buy some? Don't want aerosol just a touch up pen would probably do it.
After its painted on do I need to do anything else to it?

It's not as easy as it looks, but painted stripes will always look better.

Do use masking tape as mentioned before in case you stray too out of line.

It is perhaps only a small detail but a Minor looks dreadful with "stick on" vinyl lines in my opinion. I don't have a steady enough hand to do it freehand but have always painted the lines on my cars. 3M sell under the "Scotch" brand, "Fine Line Striping Tape" to mask your line as desired, so that you have the correct pointed ends to your pinstripe. If you don't have any paint in the desired colour, try as Mr Ecosse suggests and buy a "Humbrol" model enamel instead? Along with a decent brush. I've found this successful. No doubt there are other ways too :)
