Glove box ..missing lids?

Post by Cornishman »

See attached photos.
The question I have is concerning the glove boxes and lids. I cannot see any locating holes for a lid on either the passenger side or driver side, would they been on the original, bearing in mind the age of the car - 1961?

Best Regards

The open gloveboxes you have are quite correct for a late 1961 car with the duotone interior you have.

Mine is a mid-61 Traveller and I don't have glovebox lids or the chrome trim but I do have holes for the hinges so they must have been removed at some time. On the lookout for some. Does only the passenger lid have a holding bar?, I'm assuming the drivers does not have one as the steering column acts as a rest. Also, do they have magnets at the top or something to hold them.[frame]Image[/frame]

The lid on my traveller drops right down with nothing to restrain it and yes magnetic catch.

The passenger side lid does a good job of smacking the passenger on the kneecap :(

For a '61 you need the flat fronted glove box lids not the later bow fronted ones
