alternator
Just re fitted alternator with another set of wiring instructions(from Minor matters 2004) many thanks dave
and started car result battery voltage increased when revving car !
turned off car and now ign light on and no increase in battery voltage when revving car
any ideas!!

all sorted!!! at last! I think I must have had every combination of wiring
and every dodgy alternator in the UK LOL
big thanks to Dave Fisher from the N-East Scotland Morris owners for the instructions
and Rob Thomasson for his advice and help

And so - what was the answer? You must share this great ' secret ' with us all. Because I see it as a dead simple 10 minute job !!!

No great secret
all jobs are easy if the right info is available !
all the wiring diagrams I had been given including the original one supplied with the kit
all seemed to relate to post 1960 cars
also i had both alternators checked (both were listed as re-coned)
so I assumed there were ok, once checked and one was iffy which didn't help!!!
fitted the 'good one' and using new instructions/wiring info(thanks Rob Thomasson and Dave Fisher)
it was a ten minute job
