Exchange dust seal upper trunnion

Hi,
I must replace the upper dust seal as shown in the picture below. Do I have to completely disassemble the whole (top and bottom) or it is possible to disassemble the upper part only?

It comes off very easily.

I can't believe I'm saying this but with such a insignificant, although necessary part, you could cut the old one off and split the new one ( neatly) with a razor blade, wrap it around the trunnion and superglue it back together but it takes care.

I took the challenge and took it apart completely, cleaned everything, new grease, and also replaced the bottom one.
