Brake lights - 56 Morris Minor

Hi all - Ive been trying to read all the various posts re brake lights being on permanently.

They come on when I turn the key and are still on once engine is started.

Is one of the possible faults a faults switch (which I think I have found down below under the bonnet)?

I think I read you could test the switch by placing something metal between the terminals and if the lights didn't go out the switch is broken - is that right??

If so - what would be the correct part for me to get - just so I can get hold of one.

Take a wire off the switch under the bonnet and the light should go out, if not the fault is somewhere else.

Wire taken off.... no rear lights.. wire put back - they stay on. So we think the switch?

Yep. But watch out I have seen on here there are a lot of duff ones being sold. With a bit of luck someone will be along soon to say where you can get known good ones.
