Squeaky rear springs

Post by ronnie »

Hi , any advice on constant squeak coming from rear springs. Cars was laid up for over a year . I had drained and refilled the dampers so pretty sure it's not them. There's no grease nipples on the springs so is it a good soak with WD40 or what ???

Only lubricate your springs if there is no wear lip at the end of the spring leaf otherwise lubrication can cause the spring to flex more which may cause the end of the spring leaf to come up against the wear lip which in turn could cause the leaf spring to break.
If no lip - paraffin and waste oil liberally spread over the spring leaves but not excessively is the way to go.
If it is your spring eye bushes making the noise try a little brake fluid on the bushes which is a good old fashioned remedy.

Cheers. Will try the brake fluid first and take it from there and obviously inspect the springs. Ronnie
