Roof Fitment

Ok, the woodwork is nearly finished and the roof has been trial fitted. The questions I have are;
The roof is resting on the roof spars at the outer edges but there is a gap between the spars and the roof as you come around the curve (pictures attached). Is this normal (expansion/contraction of the roof) or does the roof have to sit on the spars?
What have you used for the foam strip on the top of the roof spars?
Has anyone used Dynomat to line the roof (I presume it would be like sitting in a drum when it rains if you did not soundproof the roof)?
Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

I have been told by the wood supplier that the roof spars do not have to contact the roof and are there to fix the headlining to and to prevent lateral movement of the side frames.

But if the aluminium roof can 'drum' against the spars it's going to be noisy. I don't know - so this is really a question - should there be some kind of sound deadening material on top of the spars - to contact the roof panel ?

There is a groove in the top of the two central spars with a half round foamed neoprene section to stop drumming. Part No. AAA 4562

There is supposed to be some padding strips between the roof spars and the aluminium roof. Use upholstery glue to stick them in place.

Its not from a website its the Morris (BMC) part number from the factory body parts book.

I would think that Woodies would stock it... its probably ref T11 http://www.morriswoodwork.co.uk/spares-travpans.html

But I would call them to check, they are very helpful and know just about all there is to know about trav timbers....
