Where is the dipstick?

Those damn frenchies have been using electronic dipsticks for years even in the 90's alot of Renault had them :S personally I think it's just another thing to go wrong

I rather have to have a dipstick on my car because it takes no time to check the oil rather having to wait for a light to tell you to add oil.

goes back a lot earlier than that,back in the 60ies I had a couple or rovers a 90 and a 95 ,they h ad a button on the dash which you pressed and it showed the oil level by moving the fuel gauge. Still had a dipstick though.so not so modern.

My modern (a LR Disco) hasn't got a dipstick but there is a section of the computer menu that will show an oil reading if the engine is cold. Works just as well as a dipstick (although not as simple, I grant you) and means that I can check the oil without getting my hands dirty. Someone must have thought that a good idea...

Someone I work for his car would not start and has not got a normal handbrake electronic one and could not get the car towed to the garage as the handbrake would not release without the engine running and to wait three weeks for a mechanic to come out and fix it . He has since changed the car.

On some - like my modern - the dip stick is fixed to the filler cap! Remove the cap (which I noted carefully is NOT vented .. ) and the dipstick pulls up with the cap...
