Acceptable disc wear?

Post by Oldmogman »

I've noticed that my brake discs have become grooved - the grooves aren't deep but they're visible. Is that acceptable?

They've done around 40,000 miles but I wouldn't think they're due for replacement just yet?

However, I've noticed replacement discs for the Marina set-up are vented ones, which look much thicker than 8mm solid ones fitted. Do these fit the standard calipers? Or can anyone suggest where I might get solid discs (if I need them at all!)

Thanks all

As long as there is still decent thickness on the discs - they will be fine.. I'm sure new discs will still be available - same discs are used on TR7.

I doubt you'll need new discs after 40,000 miles unless you did 1,000 of them with no pad material !!!! :o

My Marina discs have done 60,000 plus miles and still have plenty of thickness left.
