Both are a bit far away I'm afraid (I'm in Hastings). Would that Midget engine be a straight swap? The thing that worries me about fitting a 1275 engine is that it might be harder to get parts for and wouldn't be as well supported. So I'm tempted to stick to 1098.

How hard would you say rebuilding an engine is? That is if I get the machining work done elsewhere and just do the disassembly and reassembly myself. I'm generally quite good with mechanical stuff but I don't have any specialist tools or a workshop.

Also, is there any difference between the 1098 engines with the cannister breather and the rocker cover breather aside from the breather itself? My engine has the cannister breather but most that I see have one in the rocker cover.

Engine rebuild is very straightforward - and plenty of advice on here. No important variations on the 1098 engines. The 1275 engines are very well supported for spares - as is the 1098. No worries either way.
